Contrada Donna Bianca sits at 820 meters in Randazzo, named for the snowcapped "lady" looming overhead, where own-rooted vines planted in 1950 push through volcanic debris and lava ridges to find whatever the mountain will give them. Organic farming, seventy-plus years of vine memory, and the kind of volcanic minerality that runs like a wire through the mid-palate. Nerello Mascalese from Etna is one of the few red wines that tastes like the place it came from more than the grape it's made of.
