Ruby-red color, Freisa has a floral and fruity aroma of concentrated berries and tar with hints of blackberry. It is a full-bodied wine, with a refreshing acidity, rich and soft tannins finesse, excellent balance, great complexity, integration and a long lingering finish. Freisa is a little fizzy.
Winemaker Notes
Freisa is an under-the-radar grape type from the Monferrato and Langhe areas of the Piedmont. Dating back to the 16th century, Freisa is a versatile grape that produces a range of wines, from dry still wine to sparkling wine as well as some sweet versions. Fermentation with 60% whole berries in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation and aging are carried out in older, large oak casks for a year.

Located in the heart of the Langhe hills, at the top of the village of Castiglione Falletto, the Vietti wine cellar was founded in the late 1800's by Carlo Vietti. The estate has gradually grown over time, and today the vineyard holdings include some of the most highly prized terroirs within the Barolo and Barbaresco winegrowing areas.
