Vasse Felix planted the first vines in Margaret River back in 1967, and nearly sixty years on the region's ancient soils and twin-ocean isolation still make a compelling case for Chardonnay. The 2024 opens pale straw and bright, pineapple, grapefruit, crunchy nectarine, before French oak and lees time layer in ginger, vanilla biscuit, almond meal and lemon curd. The palate stays light and fine, delicate citrus running straight through the mid-palate: the founding estate, still setting the standard.
Tasting Notes
Bright pale straw color. An open fragrant perfume reminiscent of apple pie, delicate spice and milk arrowroot biscuits. Perfectly ripe notes of lemon, peach and mango mingle with light pear and a hint of white pepper. A very comfortable mouthfeel with fleshy softness, fruit sweetness and full body tempered by a beautiful fresh acid crunch toward the finish. Almost a mango-like texture with a tangy twist, fused with slightly undercooked pie crust.
