90% Sangiovese combined with small amounts of Colorino, Canaiolo & Ciliegiolo.

This is a classic styled Chianti Classico with a dark red ruby hue. Notes of sandlewood, spice, floral notes and cherries are all present in the nose. Nice tension in the mouth with ripe tannins and good persistence. This is drinking well now, but will age gracefully for another 5-10 years.

Winemaker Notes

A blend of 90% Sangiovese with 10% Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, and Colorino, Piemaggio’s flagship Chianti Classico ferments spontaneously in stainless steel during a 3 ½ week maceration, and spends two years aging in a combination of concrete tanks and previously used wooden casks—mainly 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak, with some 500-liter French oak employed as well.
