About the Producer

In 1880, Cantine Pellegrino was established by Paolo Pellegrino, a wine grower in Marsala, located on the west coast of Sicily, and his son Carlo. Wine has been made here for thousands of years, yet the British bolstered the success of Marsala as a wine capital. Instrumental in developing fortified wines from Portugal's Oporto and Spain's Jerez, the winery sought similar products elsewhere. This family-owned company is the region's leader, with over 750 acres of vineyards and a range of Marsala, Pantelleria Passito, and other Sicilian varieties. Cantine Pellegrino is also Pantelleria's most prominent grower and producer of Passito wines. Today, as it was in the past, the Pellegrino family, having reached their seventh generation, lead the entrepreneurial dream which began in 1880.
