Among the world’s best known and oldest Lambrusco wineries, vignerons and winemakers in Lambrusco since 1890, the Medici family blends historic winemaking expertise with a modern and original style. All Medici wines are made with organically farmed estate grapes, which are grown with highly restricted yields (40% below DOC mandates) to increase the quality of the wine. While keeping true to the historical tradition of producing quality Charmat-method Lambrusco, they also produce Lambrusco made in the ancestral “pet-nat” method (Phermento) and the traditional / Champagne method (Unique & Carezza). Quality remains central to each step of production in their new, world-class winemaking facility located outside of Reggio Emilia. In 2017 Medici Ermete converted all of its 200 acres of estate vineyards from sustainable to organic farming. Medici Ermete has a long history of farming sustainably, so responsible farming practices are not new to them. They have long been concerned with sustainable agriculture, specifically this means: no herbicides, no pesticides and no fertilizers. In 2024 Medici Ermete released their first carbon neutral wines, restyling the Quercioli line with a modern twist to achieve a carbon neutral product. This was achieved by sourcing dry goods locally, reducing glass weight, removing the capsule, and investing in a carbon offset program. The product is certified by Climate Partner.
