Offerus was the opening act of Chave's Sélections project in 1995, named for Saint Christopher before his baptism, drawn largely from estate parcels in the historic southern communes of Saint-Joseph, plus younger vines not yet bound for the domaine bottlings. Jean-Louis Chave took over the family domaine in 1993 and set about reclaiming abandoned hillsides, rebuilding terraces and replanting historic parcels; fermentation happens across a mix of vessels. This is Northern Rhône Syrah from one of the most cerebral growers in France, and you don't need a domaine label to taste the thinking behind it.
