Domaine Simon Bize Bourgogne Les Perrieres Rouge 2021

Some domaines are inseparable from their village, and Bize is Savigny-lès-Beaune. Here from vines planted in 1971 and 1974 on an east-facing slope hanging above the town, just over two hectares of it. The 2021 carries that hillside austerity in the best way: red fruit with lift rather than weight, fine tannin, and a mid-palate that keeps its shape all the way through. Still one of the most under-appreciated great addresses in Burgundy, which is entirely our gain.
