Considered a rising star of the southern Rhône, this biodynamic domain is located just northwest of Gigondas; here Daniel Boulle produces several different cuvées of Côtes du Rhône which have won him considerable acclaim. His rose is made mostly from Cinsault, along with Grenache, Counoise and a touch of Mourvedre. The wine offers deep aromas of red fruit, rose petals and spice. It is full and fruity on the palate, with bright acidity balancing everything out into a long, smooth finish.

About the Producer

Domaine Les Aphillanthes from Travaillan, just northwest of Gigondas, has the capability of jolting us into a renewed appreciation of the Côtes du Rhône region. The 4th generation at the domaine, grower and winemaker Daniel Boulle's terroir-driven southern Rhône wines are models of attention and balance - perfect fruit to optimally minute yields. Daniel inherited the estate's 10 hectares in 1987 and has increased it by acquiring exceptional parcels, including one in Rasteau planted in 1921. The plots are tended to meticulously. The vines grow as deep as 30 meters (100 feet).
