Grivot is one of the old Burgundian names, and it runs on generational handoffs. Étienne took the reins from his father Jean in 1987, and in 2017 handed them to his daughter Mathilde. This 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges is all red berries, herbs, and purple flowers, medium-weight but rich through the mid-palate, with bright acidity and tannins spun fine. Aging in 30–60% new Burgundian pièce lends vanilla, toast, and baking spice. Structure and perfume in equal measure, which is the whole point of the address.
