Gigondas has been under vine since Roman times, when olive and fruit trees still shared the slopes. Until the brutal spring frost of 1956 killed the orchards and left the growers with nothing to think about but grapes. The Cheron family, Burgundians by origin, landed here by way of Denis Cheron's négociant work in Vacqueyras, and this 2022 red blend carries the Southern Rhône's sun-warmed fruit on a frame with real grip through the mid-palate. Sometimes a disaster is just the universe telling you to focus.
