Domaine Chapel Chiroubles 2021

Régnié, the youngest of the Beaujolais crus, in the hands of David Chapel and Michele Smith, a couple who met over a tasting at Domaine Lapierre in 2013 and built a domaine out of it. This 2021 Gamay comes off high-density, east-facing parcels, and it drinks with the kind of lift and fine-grained structure that altitude tends to give: bright red fruit, a little stony snap on the mid-palate, tannin that's present without pushing. Beaujolais made by people who learned it from the source.
