Dog Point went fully organic across its Marlborough vineyards back in 2009, and the farming reads like a closed loop. 2,000 sheep grazing and fertilizing through winter, steer on the property, prunings composted and returned to the rows. The 2019 pours deep ruby, with dark plum, baking spice and violet lifting out of the glass, then a lush, pure mid-palate of dark berry framed by fine-grained French oak and velvety tannin. That long spiced finish is what a decade and a half of farming this way buys you.
