The old vines here do give some concentration. More importantly, they give a great swathe of ripe fruit that is so crisp and refreshing. Lemon and the lightest texture are lifted by intense acidity and a lively, fresh aftertaste.

Wine SpectatorVerbena and aloe notes are up front in this green, fresh white. Details of zesty green herbs, fennel frond and racy flintiness make for a chiseled, steely feel. Offers a hint of chamomile on the firmly structured finish, with succulent, salty acidity. Drink now through 2030. 2,700 cases made, 1,600 cases imported.
About the Producer
Built by the noble Lore de la Ragotiere family in the 14th century, Chateau de la Ragotiere was purchased in 1979 by brothers Bernard, Francois, and Michel Couillaud. After acquiring the property, the brothers discovered an old cellar in the chapel housing vintages dating back to 1947. The thirty hectare (over 74 acres) estate is home to schist and micaschist soils that produce late-maturing and well-structured wines, particularly good for keeping. Today, the new generation - Amelie, daughter of Bernard, and her husband, Vincent Dugue - lead the estate.
