About the Producer

Château Carbonnieux, one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux with roots dating back to the 13th century, is located in the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation. Founded by Benedictine monks, the estate achieved early fame for both red and white wines, later passing through several families before being acquired by the Perrin family in 1956. The estate is renowned for its gravelly terroir, historical significance—including a visit from Thomas Jefferson—and its 1959 classification as a Grand Cru Classé for both red and white wines. The vines benefit from the unique climate and soil of the Pessac-Léognan area, enhancing the quality of the wines. Throughout the centuries, Château Carbonnieux has evolved while maintaining its commitment to excellence in viticulture and winemaking. This dedication has received praise both in France and internationally. The estate’s wines are recognized for their aging potential, gaining greater complexity over time; they are good now but even better with aging.
