A ruby-red Champagne from Soutiran, all Pinot Noir, with orange shimmers that hint at the depth waiting underneath. The nose runs dark and citric at once, blackberry, blackcurrant, blood orange, cherry, while the palate turns suave and stewed, red and black fruits gone soft at the edges. The finish is unmistakably vinous: this is a wine that happens to have bubbles, not the other way around.
