Caymus Special Selection draws from the vineyard's finest barrels. Velvety tannins and dark fruit concentration that feel effortless rather than heavy, a structure built for the long game. Founded in 1972 on their Rutherford property, Caymus has made nothing but Napa Cabernet for five decades, and it shows: this is what happens when you commit to one place and one grape.
Winemaker Notes
Each year, Caymus sets aside the best barrels of their Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley to produce Special Selection. Distinguished by extremely fine, velvety tannins and enjoyable upon release or with aging. A wine of structure with intense concentration of supple flavors and dark fruits.
About the Producer
Caymus Vineyards was founded in 1972 by Charles F. (Charlie) Wagner, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner and their son Charles J. (Chuck) Wagner on the family's Rutherford property. The Wagner's produced their first Cabernet Sauvignon from the 1972 vintage. Caymus has made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon every year since its founding, and now focuses entirely on this variety. The Wagner's took the name Caymus from the Mexican land grant known as Rancho Caymus, given to George Young in 1836, which included what became the town of Rutherford and much of the surrounding area.
