Arianna Occhipinti was 24 and pouring her first vintage at a wine fair when the world caught on; two decades later the formula is still stubbornly simple. Organic farming on Sicilian sand and chalk, forty-year-old vines, indigenous yeasts, and a thirty-day maceration. An even split of Frappato and Nero d'Avola, aged 32 months in big Slavonian casks, so the oak is a room the wine sits in rather than a flavor it wears: bright red fruit, chalky grip on the mid-palate, tannin with sand in it. Minimal sulfur, maximum nerve.
