Exotic spice, rose, eucalyptus and red-berry aromas are front and center on this perfumed red. It's loaded with finesse and tension, delivering Marasca cherry, cranberry, licorice and clove while a mineral note evoking rusty iron (and that's a good thing) adds depth to the finish. Tasted: Oct 2019. Delicious, glazed red cherries, creme de cassis, boysenberries, dried oregano and pine cones here. The full-bodied palate has a chiseled feel, where the tannins are very tightly strung, holding vibrant red and blue fruit, and the finish is long and savory. Drink from 2023.

About the Producer

Driven by a passion for exceptional nebbiolo, the Travaglini family has crafted remarkable, limited-production wines from their eponymous estate in Gattinara for five generations. The family cultivates a total of 59 hectares / 145 acres, which represents 50% of this tiny DOCG, making them the region’s foremost producer. Tucked away in the foothills of the Monte Rosa range, the Gattinara DOCG lies within northwestern Italy’s Piedmont region. Though today recognized as the home of a beautifully complex, structured style of Italian red wine, the region has a dramatic history.
