Winemaker Notes

Foremost a mineral wine, Delamotte Blanc de Blancs NV has textbook chalkiness; with time in the glass showing its complexity from the lees and white flesh fruit. On its own, with fresh oysters, elegant saltwater fish or simply with fresh radishes with a touch of fleur de sel, Delamotte Blanc de Blancs is a versatile wine as an aperitif or at the table.

Some beeswax and savory, flinty undertones to the dried citrus fruit aromas. Walnuts, too. It's creamy and flavorful, with sleek bubbles and delicious umami nuances. Delicious finish. Chardonnay from Le Mesnil, Avize and Oger. Based on 2019, with 15% reserve wines from 2018 and 2017.

93 Decanter

A benchmark entry-level non-vintage blanc de blancs in an effortlessly crisp, refined frame. Beautifully charred citrus, gunflint and sourdough aromas frame a gently persistent palate of ripe, juicy lemon and pear, drawn with unusual length and finesse. With just 10% reserve wine, the emphasis here is on brightness and energy. This score is for the magnum format. Only a few are made but the added quality represents fantastic value.

93 Jeb Dunnuck

A bright silver/yellow color, the NV Champagne Blanc De Blancs Brut is based on the 2020 vintage and was aged for 48 months sur latte. Coming from Avize, Mesnil, and Oger, it has a very pretty and inviting, open feel with notes of green apples, pretty flowers, lemon-lime citrus, and chalky powder. Medium-bodied, it boasts a refined and elegantly rounded mousse, complemented by a clean and saline finish.

93 Wine Advocate

Brighter, zippier and more explosive than previous releases, the NV Brut Blanc de Blancs is immediately impressive with bright citrus tones that erupt from the glass. Medium-bodied, the palate shows immaculate precision and finesse, with succulent layers of citrus, green apples and lemon skin. A soft, nutty essence then appears from its 45 months on the lees. The wine continues to make me salivate, bringing me back for more and has me craving freshly shucked oysters and cheeses.

93 Wine Spectator

A graceful Champagne, with fine length and focus. There’s a creamy plushness to the finely detailed mousse, which carries flavors of baked white cherry, poached apricot, candied lemon peel, brioche and ginger as they expand on the palate and through the well-cut, lasting finish.

About the Producer

When Francois Delamotte - a vineyard owner in Reims - founded the House in 1760, could he ever have imagined that his champagne would still be gracing our tables three centuries later? Hidden away in the heart of the Cote des Blancs, in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Delamotte continues the tradition started by its founder. Champagnes produced with bold simplicity. They owe their subtlety to the Cote des Blancs. This terroir draws forth a rich balance from the powerful, airy Chardonnays. Well-reputed among sommeliers and wine enthusiasts, the champagnes from Delamotte are known for their consistency, delicacy and exceptional character. For over 260 years, the team has been developing four different cuvees, a small range that gives amateurs and experts alike a clear understanding of the art of champagne. The Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Blancs vintage, Brut and Rose are quintessentiel champagne wines. From Cramant to Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, through Avize and Oger : all the grapes are found in the Cote des Blancs. Its location is one of Delamotte's richest assets. The chalky soil, the flora and the sloping vineyards give the grapes their exceptional character, delivering delicate, consistent champagnes. Championing this exceptional terroir, drawing the best from it while maintaining absolute respect for the vines and the environment - that's what Delamotte is all about.
