2023 was a mixed year for Brunello growers, marked by wet and hot weather spells and lower yields. However, the potential for high quality wines, especially those based on Nebbiolo, remains strong. The wines have elegance and softness that make them fun to drink, and in the case of this Rosso, a juicy character that is hard to resist. Altesino is the master of elegance, and it shows in their 2023. The alcohol content has been reduced to 13.7%, and the red fruit character is more pronounced, resulting in a much more vibrant style that is food friendly and, dare I say, more authentic Rosso than the warmer, heavier 2022s.
