Jean-Pierre Perrin started La Vieille Ferme more than 45 years ago as a straightforward, affordable Rhône bottling. Same grape varieties in similar proportions to what the family plants at Château de Beaucastel, and a similar vinification approach behind it. Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah picked in the cool of early morning to hold onto the aromatics, giving a pale powder-pink rosé with strawberry, peach and lychee on the nose and crunchy red fruit across the palate. A fine bitterness on the finish keeps it honest. Proof that pedigree doesn't have to come with a price tag.
