Thirteen generations of Hugels have farmed the clay and limestone around Riquewihr, and this Gentil pulls hand-harvested fruit from a dozen of the village's most favored sites. Six grapes, one glass. A cool, long 2023 growing season gave it finesse: yellow plum, rose, quince, and citrus zest on the nose, then a dry, harmonious mid-palate that leans gastronomic rather than showy. Aromatic and bone-dry at the same time. That's the Alsace trick nobody else quite pulls off.
