Readers looking for an incredibly charming, delicious Pinot Noir that’s going to deliver the goods should check out the 2019 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley from Hartford Court. Revealing a translucent ruby/plum color, it has a wonderful nose of spiced red and black fruits, candied violets, orange blossom, and incense. Medium-bodied on the palate, it’s wonderfully balanced, with soft, supple tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. Drink this beauty any time over the coming 5-6 years. - 94 pts, Jeb Dunnuck

Winemaker Notes

Aromas of black cherry, blueberry, black currant, allspice, and loam are followed by flavors of wild raspberries, dark berries, and a crushed rock minerality. The dense entry is followed by a sweet and juicy mouthfeel, supported by acidity, silky tannins, and a subtle earthy finish.

About the Producer

Founded in 1994 by Don and Jennifer Hartford, the Hartford Family Winery resides in a French-style chateau in the town of Forestville, in the southwestern Russian River Valley. The winery specializes in small lots of vineyard-designated wines of high personality. The wines are labeled with two distinct marks: Hartford Court for the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and Hartford for old-vine Zinfandel from the Russian River Valley. In recent years, Hartford Family Winery has produced over 25 single-vineyard wines from discrete vineyard blocks from extraordinary vineyard sites extending from Sta. Rita Hills in California north to Eola-Amity Hills in Oregon.
