Giacomo Conterno's 2022 Barbera d'Alba spends two years in large oak after a traditional fermentation. The result is a wine with the earthiness and structure you want from serious Barbera, unvarnished by new wood. Black cherry, leather, and that subtle dusty grip that makes it a natural with food. This is Barbera raised on Francia's limestone marl, serious by birth.

Winemaker Notes

Viticulture: Hand-harvested. Planted in 1974. Vinification: Long and traditional fermentation at about 30 degrees celsius in wooden vats lasting around two weeks. Aging: Aged for two years in large oak barrels followed by time in the bottle before release. Production: Average annual production of around 13,000 bottles. Vineyard: Francia vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba. Orientation: West
