The 2017 Barolo Bussia is complex and ethereal in the glass. A whole range of floral and spiced notes give the Bussia its striking aromatic presence. Silky and harmonious, the Bussia is already very easy to enjoy. Even so, my impression is that the 2017 is holding back some of its potential. I would give it a few years in bottle. The long, persistent finish is a thing of beauty. There is a lot of wine here. - 94pts Vinous

Winemaker Notes

Einaudi Barolo “Bussia” DOCG is brilliant garnet with exuberant fruit and spice on the nose. The palate is luscious, full-bodied and full-flavored with a velvety texture, and spicy finish.

About the Producer

Poderi Luigi Einaudi was founded in 1897 by Luigi Einaudi, who would later go on to be Italy's first president. Today the estate is run by his great-grandson Matteo Sardagna and winemaker Beppe Caviola. In 1915, Luigi made plans to build a cellar and began producing his own wine instead of selling the grapes. He started to buy vineyards that enjoyed a particular position, exposure, and soil quality to create the best wines. Today, his great-grandson Matteo Sardagna orchestrates production with a historic cooperative and with winemaker Beppe Caviola. Some of the region's finest vineyard sites are assembled under the Einaudi umbrella
