Garnet ruby with orange reflections, this 2017 Nebbiolo from Damilano carries the weight of a century of Barolo tradition. Cherry and plum fruit framed by tobacco and cocoa, with the soft structure that makes this vintage approachable. Harmonious and full-bodied, it finishes long: a wine that tastes like it knows what it's doing.

Winemaker Notes

Garnet ruby red in color with orange reflections. The bouquet is ample and embracing, with pronounced fruity notes of cherry and plum and notes of tobacco, liquorice and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is harmonious, pleasantly dry with soft tannins, broad and full-bodied. Persistent finish.

“Only released in the best vintages, the Damilano 2016 Barolo Riserva Cannubi 1752 (with 6,000 bottles made) starts off a bit slow like some of the other wines in this portfolio and requires a little extra time to open. That shy beginning slowly embraces dark fruit, blackcurrant, peat moss and crushed stone. This Riserva offers an extra layer of density and power.”

About the Producer

The Damilano name carries with it more than 100 years of winemaking history in the heart of Italy's most dynamic, competitive, and prestigious wine zone; Barolo. Damilano is one of the oldest wineries in Barolo, dating back to 1890, when Giuseppe Borgogno started cultivating grapes and producing wine from his own vineyards. Giacomo Damilano, the founder’s son-in-law, took over the winery operation in 1935. Giacomo grew the business, and improved the general quality of both the vinification system and the vineyards, turning the winery into a “jewel” of the Langhe area.
