Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's 2021 Montrachet is a study in restraint: pale and cool-toned, its aromatic core carries green notes that slowly unfold into something more complex. The 2021 vintage speaks of a cool year, where freshness and subtlety overtake richness. This is Chardonnay stripped to its essence, rewarding patience.
Winemaker Notes
A wine of quiet tones that needed a lot of time to reveal its beauty. The very light colour already gave a hint that 2021 was a cool year, characterised by freshness and subtlety. Initially, a cool, almost green core dominated the bouquet, but with a little patience, aromas of wild strawberries, wild roses, cassis leaves and fine, ethereal herbal notes unfolded. On the palate, silky, polished tannins and a fresh, supporting acidity give the wine structure and backbone. One of the great highlights of this tasting.
