The 2023 Riesling Schlossberg Grand Cru still has a touch of youthful yeastiness, which is absolutely understandable for a wine bottled last week. Yet a touch of lemon zest is irrepressible. The palate is completely clean-cut. This is naked stone: pure, bright, bone-dry and uncompromising. The mouth just keeps watering, abetted by some lovely saltiness.

Juicy kumquat, melon, and blanched almond are expressive and well-meshed with a ripe, succulent beam of clementine acidity. Broad and full, with good density and power. The zesty, tangy finish shows vibrancy, with a savory zing of bitter herbs, salted butter and smoke.
