The Perrin family built La Vieille Ferme more than 45 years ago as the everyday counterpart to Château de Beaucastel. Same varieties, same instincts, none of the ceremony. Chardonnay off limestone gives this sparkler its spine of minerality and freshness, while extended lees rest with regular bâtonnage rounds out the mid-palate: lemon-yellow in the glass, fine persistent bead, white peach and a whisper of brioche over a delicate floral lift. Proof that a bubbly built for gratification doesn't have to cost you anything to think about.
