Jean-Philippe Fichet has spent recent vintages in the Côte de Beaune absorbing whatever the weather cared to throw at him, hail chief among it, and has answered by seeking out overperforming village sites, betting that spreading himself across more of the map means something somewhere gets spared. This 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet comes off clay-limestone, and you can feel both halves of that: the clay giving flesh through the mid-palate, the limestone drawing a clean line underneath it. Chardonnay grown by someone with skin in the game.
