Remelluri's deep cherry core shows the ripe fruit and fine tannins of well-integrated Rioja, a touch of dried herbs and spice rounds out the mid-palate without the weight of overdone oak. A winery rooted in tenth-century terroir, revived in 1967, and it tastes like someone who knows exactly what they're doing.

About the Producer
Remelluri originated in the tenth century when Count Erramel founded a village (uri) on the site; the name Erramel Uri evolved to Remelluri. The modern winery was established in 1967 when Jaime Rodr guez Sal s purchased the ancient, abandoned vineyards. Marking the beginning of a new era, his children Telmo Rodr guez, winemaker, and Amaia Rodr guez Hernandorena, viticulturist, took over in 2009. Remelluri is evolving the dialog of Rioja from aging methods and cellar blends to site and ecology. Over 80 distinct plots are located between 500 and 950 meters elevation, along the south-facing slopes of the Sierra de Tolo o. Chemicals have never been used and the entire production has been certified organic since 2014.
